Věra Herajtová and Vladimír Franz Join Forces for Medeia in Liberec

There was a slight delay in reporting the December premiere in Liberec of Medeia, on which our client, the director Věra Herajtová, worked together with her long-time collaborator Vladimír Franz who was several times awarded Alfréd Radok Prize. In a review of the production at the F.X. Šalda Theatre, Jiří Kříž wrote: "Even on a small stage, Herajtová is able to mould impressive images. The production climaxes with Medeia being chased away from Corinthos. Everything happens in a wild rhythm, inspired by Moravian-Slovakia folk music from Wallachia and Kopanice. Now is the time to mention the music by Vladimír Franz (...) Vladimír Franz is a tornado. His music starts with the calm before a storm, with quasi-baroque chamber motives reminiscent of Vejvanovský. Similar to sharp scissors cutting material, the author of the music to Medeia intercuts mystery and percussion solos, and sometimes just onomatopoeic sounds. (...) Linking the magic of Věra Herajtová's directing and the musical ideas by Vladimír Franz creates a tragic, mesmerizing and suggestive shape of the Liberec production of Medeia.
