The book presents some of the texts that were presented during the last eight years as rehearsed readings by the Immigrants´ Theatre Project at several New York stages including the famous Public Theater. The blurb for the book says the play included “explore sex and gender identity, ethnicity and violence, political corruption and religious taboos. Using innovative forms and diverse styles, they tackle the new realities of Czech society brought on by democracy and globalization with characteristic humor and intelligence.”
The texts represented by Aura Pont in the anthology include Opening the Drawer and Pulling out the Knife [Otevírám zásuvku a vyndavám nůž] by Ivana Růžičková, Minach by Iva Klestilová and Theremin by Petr Zelenka. The launch will be complemented by the reading of extracts from the published plays. The book is published by the Martin E.Segal Theatre Center University Publishing.
