On 9 November 2009, Leaving [Odcházení], Václav Havel’s latest play will open in Croatia. The guest Czech director Jiří Menzel produced it at the Komedija Theatre in Zagreb in a set design by Miljenko Sekulić and costumes by Mirjana Zagorec, with Damir Lončar and Sanja Marin in the main roles. The Croat translation is by the theatres’ dramaturge and Czech studies scholar Dagmar Ruljančić. Leaving is not the only play with a Czech connection in the theatre’s repertory. Its premiere was preceded in September by a production of a dramatization of Good Soldier Švejk.
