Gods are not playing ice hockey in Ústí nad Labem


On Friday 19th December 2008, a new play by Petr Kolečko will open at the Činoherní studio [Drama Studio] in v Ústí nad Labem. Gods don’t play ice-hockey [Bohové hokej nehrají] was written specially for the theatre’s ensemble and deals with the atmosphere in an unnamed industrial city in the North of the Czech Republic. The play, directed by Filip Nuckolls and dramaturged by Vladimír Čepek, features the characters of the ice-hockey defender Tomáš, folk singer Kristián and a Gipsy girl Eržika.

The first version of the script is a result of the author’s residency at the Royal Court Theatre in London. Its English version (in David Short translation) is available from Aura Pont.
