Czech Clarinet Quartet Changes its Name to Clarinet Factory

The Spring brings an announcement from the CCQ. The Czech Clarinet Quartet is changing its name to Clarinet Factory. During over a decade of its existence, the ensemble aimed at interpreting the most diverse musical genres and experimented with classics, jazz, electronics and ethno music. The Quartet's philosophy could be summed up by a quote from one of its members, Jindra Pavliš: "We don't want to be just interpreters and clarinettists. While playing classical music and jazz, we are interpreters, during improvisations and new multi-genre projects we are also authors. Before, we played our clarinets and arranged music, nowadays we do more of improvising, composing, playing other instruments and sing. We want to be an ensemble that is able to communicate, not a museum!" The quartet has a clear aim - communication across the genres and across generations. All of this is hidden in the ensemble's new - maybe intentionally abstract -  name Clarinet Factory, under which it will be playing in the future and meeting its supporters and fans.
