The exhibition is open until 13 March 2009 and offers also photographs by Bohdan Holomíček and various documents, such as samizdats and other material.
“Nowadays, everybody knows Havel the president, a serious man full of wisdom with a red handkerchief in his suit jacket, but he used to be a man living a very dramatic and at the same time merry life within different communities,” the director of the Havel Library Martin C. Putna said at the opening.
Havel himself could not attend the opening because of health problems. Among those present at the ceremony (bread rolls and bottled beer were served) were the members of the Underground rock groups Plastic People of The Universe and DG 307 as well as the Czech Foreign minister Karel Schwarzenberg.
