79 texts competing for this year’s Radok Award

75 playwrights (including three joint projects by two authors) sent a total of 79 plays to the 15th year of the Alfréd Radok Award anonymous playwriting competition, keeping up with the 1998 participation record. There are 24 female playwrights; eight texts came from Slovakia and one each from the USA and Germany.
A shortlist of 10 finalists will be chosen by a panel of readers; a jury will then award the first three prizes. For the first time, the Royal Court Theatre in London will invite one of the English-speaking finalists for its joint Artistic Residency program with the Czech Centre in London, starting July 2007. As in the last year, all those interested have the opportunity to read the plays sent to the competition on the internet - at least where the authors agreed to be published anonymously.
