World premiere of Theremin in the Dejvice Theatre

Petr Zelenka's new play, under his own direction, opened on 17 November in the Dejvice Theatre. The dramatist used the slightly bizarre and even touching fate of a forgotten Russian inventor as the basis for an ambitious and entertaining parabola about a man adrift in the history of the strange 20th century. Ivan Trojan is excellent in the leading role, and it becomes a play which is not only about the somewhat capricious electronic instrument, the thereminvox. (Authentic music is included as part of the text.)
Theremin, the nucleus of whose action takes place in the 1920s and 1930s in the USA, has already been translated into American English.
