The return of Woman through the Centuries

On 3 and 4 October the production department of Aura-Pont revived the historical comedy by Zdenek Podskalský Woman through the Centuries in the U hasiču Theatre. This popular script was directed by his son, Zdenek Podskalský jr., with Jitka Asterová alternating with Jana Krausová and Vasil Fridrich alternating with Jioí Hána in the leading roles. The scriptwriter and director Zdenik Podskalský wrote the play in 1982. It was his third and last play for the theatre, preceded by The Visit of the Young Lady and The League against Infidelity. Zdenek Podskalský jr., who has made a number of television programmes, short scenes and film documentaries, was asked by Aura-Pont to adapt his father's play and rewrite the last section - The Woman of the Future.

"In the 1980s, the ideal man of women's dreams was a one who helped with the housework - did the vacuum cleaning, dried the dishes. Nowadays he has to be handsome, charming, witty, and able to look after a woman," he said. Apparently when writing it he had his father's favourite theme in mind, affirming that a man is something like a very finished machine in the hands of a woman. The production is also available for provincial touring.
